The Nordlys effect
Patients will notice a visible anti-aging effect and improvement in overall skin condition.
Selective waveband technology (SWT)
IPL covers a spectrum of wavelengths and hence it is absorbed by a variety of chormophores in skin like melanin, oxyheamoglobin, and water. This variety of targets represents a challenge upon trying to target a specific chromophore with more energy than other ones.
Historically IPL technologies offered a single range of wavelength (ex: 420-1200nm) and later the ability to filter wavelength from one end was introduced (ex: 550-1200).
Nordlys now offers the most advanced double filter technology that allows the user to choose from narrow wavelength bands for a selective treatment, this enables you to avoid harmful wavelengths and to use more effective parameters without compromising safety.
Photo-rejuvenation, pigmented lesions
The treatment works by directing light pulses into the upper skin layers. The light is absorbed by two chromophores: melanin and hemoglobin.
This absorption results in a thermal effect that partially removes melanin containing cells, damages vessels which limits the blood supply to the target area & stimulate forming new collagen & elastin.
Frax handpieces provides 2 types of wavelengths, 1550nm & new 1940nm generation:
- The 1550nm targets water-containing tissues within the depth of 800 microns, which generates thermal effect that leads to neocollageneis and the replacement of old collagen & fibrous tissues with new collagen.
- The 1940nm Thulium laser, targets water-containing tissues within the depth of 200 microns, the thermal effect leads to partial evaporation of melanin-containing cells which unifies the skin tone. The thermal effect also rejuvenates the skin through the formation of new collagen.
Vascular lesions
The laser and light energies are absorbed by hemoglobin resulting in a thermal effect that removes the vascular lesions, hence it reduces the blood supply to the area which reduces the redness & visible vascularity.
For superficial lesions, the Ellipse IPL works by targeting the vessels in the upper layers. Because of its energy distribution, IPL excels in diffused redness.
For deeper lesions Nd:YAG is selected due to its higher penetration which allows it to excel in blue veins.
Automatic preset parameters for different skin conditions are available for new users. A memory function allows saving and recalling favourite parameters for expert users.
